We had monsters from outer space on almost every show, and these monsters were played
by some VERY good actors. One in particular stands out in my mind - John Carradine, an
actor whose career spanned generations, a classic actor in every sense of the word. In
our first scene together, he had a long speech and when he was finished, I just stood there,
mesmerized. His pronunciation, his distinctive voice, his presence, the way the words
came tripping off his tongue, left me speechless. On take two, I finally got my
lines out and realized I was just a beginner, had a long way to go.
I guess the old adage, "There are no small parts" is true. John Carradine showed me that.
